Maureen C. Harris, 62
OCALA, Fla. & OLD ORCHARD BEACH -- Maureen C. Harris, 62, died after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Nov. 13, 2014, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on Oct. 25, 1952, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Perry and Gloria (Doyle) Chapman. Maureen was raised in Norway, and graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1971. She went on to attend Bates College, graduating Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1975.
Maureen married Ray S. Harris in 1974. They celebrated 40 years of marriage in August. She was employed by the Social Security Administration for four years. Maureen then spent time to raise her three children. She went on to work for L.L. Bean for 27 years.
Maureen was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading novels, and traveling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Patrick C. Harris of Old Orchard Beach, and Ryan T. Harris and his wife Casey of Westbrook, daughter Jessica M. Harris, of Oxford, Ohio; two brothers, Keith Chapman and his wife Ann of South Portland, and Dale Chapman and his wife Cathy of Londonderry, N.H.; uncle Earl Chapman of New Jersey; nieces Shannon Mbuthia and Kelly Chapman, nephews Jasin, Nathan, and Matthew Chapman; and her beloved black lab, Mia.
The family would like to thank all the dedicated employees of Hospice of Southern Maine, for their loving care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Burial will be at a later date. Notes of condolences may be expressed to the family at
