Maynard S. Ginn, 59
SCARBOROUGH -- Maynard S. Ginn, 59, of North Yarmouth, passed of cancer on March 8, 2014, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born on July 10, 1954, in Portland, the son of the late Donald and Jennie (Barter) Ginn.
Maynard graduated from Greely High School in 1973, and spent the next six years in the Army National Guard. After his service he worked throughout Cumberland County at Anderson Mill, Seltzer and Rydholm Inc., Earthworks and Matteson, Midnight Tree as a co-owner with John Griffiths, Charlie Cromwell Masonry and finally at Bates College where he spent many years as a grounds keeper.
Maynard was a nickname enthusiast. He enjoyed watching his three children's many sporting events and was a lifelong fan of the Greely Rangers, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Maynard also enjoyed hunting, fishing, clamming, snowmobiling, playing cards, and trips to the casino.
Maynard is survived by his three children, Hope Ginn of Scarborough, Stephanie Ginn of South Portland, and Casey Ginn of Windham. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald Ginn Jr. of North Yarmouth, Alberta Kelley of Tehachapi, Calif., Beth Riendeau of Kissimmee, Fla., Heidi Yates of Indianapolis, Ind., and Robert Ginn of Pownal. He is also survived by eight nieces and eight nephews. Maynard was predeceased by his parents; and beloved pets, Papi, Skidder and Belhorn.
A celebration of Maynard's life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 5-8 p.m., at Toddy Brook, 925 Sligo Rd., North Yarmouth.
