SCARBOROUGH - William Paul Titcomb passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born in Portland on December 7, 1935 the son of William Lamont and Eleanor Dahms Titcomb. He graduated from Portland High School. After High School, He joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a military policeman. He was stationed in some beautiful places like Hawaii and Japan which he would reminisce about.
Returning to Portland in 1959, William married his true love, the late Ruth McCrum, who had been waiting for him for four years. He worked at Oakhurst Dairy for 13 years and after that Hannaford Brothers where he retired from in 1995 to spend more time with his grandchildren who he adored. He was very personable and would chat with people on the street often talking about his favorite sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an accomplished archer.
William is survived by his sister Donna Titcomb of Portland, his brother Robert Titcomb of Portland; one daughter Diane Libby and her husband Peter of New Gloucester, two sons Eric Titcomb and his wife Joanne Parker of Buxton and Scott Titcomb of Portland; five grandchildren, Shannon Titcomb, Stephanie and Stacy Libby and Nicholas and Caroline Titcomb.
The family of William Titcomb would like to give special thanks to Scott and Donna Titcomb for the special care they provided to William for the past year.
There are no visiting hours scheduled. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
