1947 - 2018 BUXTON - It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of Warren "Sandy" Eldridge, 72, of Buxton, Maine. Sandy was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and passed peacefully two, short weeks later. Sandy was born on May 18, 1946, to the late Warren and Ethelyn Eldridge.
He spent his formative years in Westbrook and was a graduate of Westbrook High School. He attended the University of Maine, Orono and earned a degree in Wildlife Conservation. Sandy was a wildlife biologist for the State of Maine for over 35 years and was most at home in the woods.
In 1980 he married the love of his life, Catherine "Cathy" Libby, on New Year's Eve. They built a home in Buxton and raised their cherished Springer Spaniel, Chauncey, as their child. Sandy was a loyal and devoted husband who remained steadfast throughout Cathy's lengthy illness through to her untimely death in 1988. In the early 1990's Sandy became a member of the Maine Spaniel Field Trial Club. He was a highly regarded member of the club, known for his humorous wit, interest in the sport, and willingness to do anything required for success. Some of his other favorite pastimes included; birdwatching, rooting for the NY Giants, and playing cribbage with friends.
Sandy was known by all for his sharp intellect and sense of humor, as well as his kindness to all and love of humanity.
Sandy is survived by his siblings, Susan Eldridge and wife Kate Meredith of Buxton, and Tom Eldridge and his wife Joanne of Westbrook; sister-in-Law, Gretchen Libby; nieces, Erica Langdon and husband Chris, and Jodie Goodman and husband Billy Goodman; nephews, Alex Anastassiou and Keegan Meredith and several grand-nieces and nephews.
