She received a Masters Degree in Liberal Studies from NYU in 1991. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Sue had a successful career in journalism, working as a newspaper reporter and television producer. Sue was an enthusiast of The Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzle which she enjoyed completing with her husband Jason.
Sue loved to travel and prevailed over extraordinary health challenges to realize her dream of traveling to the West Coast with her children to visit family and friends.
Sue is survived by her husband Jason Thaxter of Portland, and their three children Evan, Charlotte and Amelia Thaxter; her parents Han and Shu Min Chung; her brother Kai Chung and his wife Tish, and her brother Al and his wife Johnna; her father-in-law, Pete Thaxter and his wife, Mary McCann, mother-in-law, Wendy Thaxter and her husband Robert Somma; sister-in-law, Chelsea Thaxter and her husband Pierre DeGaillande, brothers-in-law, Trevor Thaxter and his wife Alison, and Langdon Thaxter; as well as a large extended family on both sides.
