Romeo Ducharme, 92
PORTLAND - Romeo Ducharme, 92, died peacefully at St. Joseph's Residence in Portland, on Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2017.
He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Norwich, Conn.
Romeo was a World War II veteran, with a Purple Heart and other medals. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, General Electric, and Dielectric. After retirement, he volunteered his time at Maine Medical Center.
He enjoyed reading, model airplanes, and spending time with his family. He always had a smile on his face.
Romeo was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude Ducharme; son, William Ducharme; and brother, Ronald Ducharme. He is survived by his sister, Valaria Mizer; and brother, Ralph Ducharme, both of Norwich, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Liz Ducharme, of Maryland; stepson, Oren Mikulaninecz, and wife Patricia, of Portland; four grandchildren, Billie-jo Hagan, of Littleton; Kathleen Johnson and husband Ernest, of Portland; Oren Mikulanecz Jr. and wife Nancy, of Portland; and Pamela Burchill and husband Timothy, of Portland; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Brittany, Ernest, Darcy, Trista, Erika, Britni and Kayla; two great-great-grandchildren, Bradley and Isabella; and his longtime friend, Joanne Curtis, of Portland.
A graveside funeral and burial will follow in the spring, at Blanchard Cemetery, in Falmouth.
