Robert (Bob) Edward Leavitt, 70
STANDISH - Robert (Bob) Edward Leavitt, Age, 70, passed away on Aug. 9, 2018, at his home with his beloved wife, daughter, and his two sisters at his bedside after a long illness. He was born in Saco on March 29, 1948, to Carroll and Doris Leavitt.
After graduating from Gorham High School he married his high school sweetheart, Marie Turpinat with whom he had a beautiful baby girl Kim. He lost Marie in 1973 in a canoeing accident. He then met Marilyn Harvey the following fall and they were married in February 1975. They had 43 years of a happy and fulfilling marriage before he passed away. He had many jobs over the years and was a jack of all trades. His main profession was as a tractor trailer driver/owner operator. After many years of being away from his family he retired as a truck driver and went to work as a metal fabricator at Bailey Sign.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV'ing, boating, camping, car racing and being with his family and his countless friends. He loved talking with just about anyone about his various interests and his family. He always made everyone laugh with his off the wall comments. He had a heart of gold and he would do anything for anyone and never thought ill of anyone. He always asked "how can people be like that" as he could not understand the other sides of human nature.
He was predeceased by his first wife Marie; and his mother, Doris Leavitt who passed away in 2012. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marilyn (Harvey) Leavitt; his daughter, Kimberly Leavitt and grandchildren Jeffrey and Lily VanDerMeiren; his father Carroll Leavitt; his two sisters Nancy Withey and her husband Gary; Tracy Leavitt and her son Cody; ex-brother-in-law David Jordan; brothers-in-law Richard Harvey and wife Denise, Donald Harvey and wife Linda; his sister-in-law Joyce Barnes and husband Greg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
