Rita T. Maxsimic, 88
BREWER - Rita T. Maxsimic, 88, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at the Westgate Center for Rehabilitation, in Bangor.
She was born March 7, 1929, in Madawaska, the daughter of Fred and Delia (Talon) Bossé.
Rita graduated from Old Town High School in 1947. After graduation, she began working in office administration and did so until she retired. In 1949, she married Roman Maxsimic; a true love story that lasted 57 years until his passing. Rita had a terrific sense of humor that was enjoyed by everyone she met. She passed this gift on to her children and grandchildren, along with the lesson of not taking oneself too seriously. Rita was a dedicated and loving mother. She was a grandmother who loved and cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply. Rita was also a loyal sister and sister-in-law, a loving aunt, and true friend.
She was sadly predeceased by her husband, Roman; a son, Roman John; brother, Alfred; and sister, Florence. Rita is survived by her children, daughter, Donna Lyford, and husband Darrell, of Bangor; son, David, and wife Cindy, of Falmouth; daughter-in-law, Katherine Maxsimic, of Portland; sister, Lorraine Dupuis, and husband Louis, of Old Town; brothers-in-law, George and wife Selda, of Orrington; and Edward and wife Catherine, of Holden; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Daigle and husband Warren, of New York; and Harriet Maxsimic, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Chip, Aimee, Tessa, Kara, Mae, and Stephanie; two great-grandchildren, Roman and Gabriel; and several loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
Rita's family wishes to thank the wonderful staff on the Penobscot Unit at Westgate. They showered Rita with love and adoration for the past two years.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
