Richard M. Davis, 89
HANOVER, Pa. - Richard M. Davis, 89, of Hanover, Pa., skied his final run down the mountain on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017.
Born June 14, 1928, in South Portland, he was the son of the late Morris Charles Davis and Mabelle Christine Davis. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Lee Davis; and a sister, Norma Davis Foss.
Richard received his bachelor's degree from Boston University and was the proud owner of Davis Materials Handling of Baltimore, Md. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served for President Harry S. Truman at Camp David. An avid skier, he was a serious cyclist and member of All Saints Episcopal Church, counseled veterans in hospice care, and was also active in the Homewood community.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, A. Christine Davis; three children, Keith Linwood Davis, of Catonsville, Md.; Leslie Davis Swallow, and her husband Jerry, of Tomales, Calif.; and Cynthia Lynne Gale, and her husband Glenn, of New York, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Isabelle Christine Gale and Ian Davis Gale; and a sister, Corinne Johnson, and her husband Walter, of Little Sebago, Maine.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 890 McCosh St., Hanover, with The Rev. Liz Huskey Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
