PORTLAND - On Dec. 26, 2018, Raeleen Michaud, loving daughter, mother, sister, partner, and friend was finally free from her pain and passed away peacefully after a long, brave and courageous battle from illness. She was born in Portland on Jan. 22, 1958. She's the daughter of Phillip Michaud and Shirley and Ray Letarte of Gorham. She graduated from Fermi High School, Enfield, Conn., and attended Pierre's School of Beauty in Portland.

Raeleen always known for her artistic imagination and was the "fashionista" of the family. She was one of eight girls. She was predeceased by sisters, Tracy and Rebecca. She is lovingly survived by her mother, Shirley Letarte; a son, Colin Shepard; sisters, Brenda Lilly and husband, Paul; sisters, Christine, Shelly and Sue Michaud, twin sister, Fayleen Brooks and her husband, Robert; stepbrothers, Ronald and Matthew Letarte; and her longtime loving partner, Peter Shepard; children, Derrick and Alyssa Shepard; daughter-in-law, Katie Bolte and grandchildren, Austin, Leah, Mya, Derrick, Sara, Olivia, Antonio, and Nicholas who loved their "Raerae" very much as well as many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her.

We will cherish Rae's smile and subtle humor; and the many handmade gifts she made for others using her creative and artistic abilities.

It's the shared moments and simple pleasures that will stay with us forever.

Her burial and celebration of life will take place this summer.
