Peter Kenneth Leavitt, 79
GORHAM - Peter Kenneth Leavitt, 79, passed away Jan. 8, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Milo, on July 19, 1938, the son of the late Waldo and Mary (Cail) Leavitt.
After attend-ing school, Peter went on to begin a lifelong career at sea. He worked as a deckhand; however, his primary role was a scallop boat captain. Most of the scalloping operations he was involved with were based out of New Bedford, Mass.
He will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had fishing, hunting, camping and most importantly, being with family.
Peter was a member of the AMVETS and Paul Mayer Post in Portland.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Susie Leavitt; and two stepchildren, Chester Vern Perry IV and Edwina Duarte.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, "Candy" Bernadette (Green) Leavitt; his children, Michael Leavitt, of Raymond; and Jolene Dyer, of Portland; his stepson, Dana Perry, of Steep Falls; and a number grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, Jan. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the
Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel,
