Norma Esther (Keough) Ballou, 88
SCARBOROUGH - Norma Esther (Keough) Ballou, 88, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, surrounded by family in her Scarborough home. She was born April 21, 1930, in Medford, Mass., daughter of Peter Edward and Esther (Hultberg) Keough. Norma grew up in Malden and Hyde Park, Mass., and was a 1948 graduate of Hyde Park High School. In 1951, she married Robert Walter Ballou, her husband of nearly 63 years, in Quincy, Mass. Norma studied ceramics at Texas Women's University and earned her BFA in 1993 at the age of 63. Later, when she and Bob moved from Texas to Maine, Norma opened her own studio, Pine Point Pottery, in Scarborough.
Norma's loving spirit will be missed by her son, Steven, and Mary Ballou of Cape Elizabeth, daughter, Andrea, and Russell Read of Somerville, Mass., and son, Dave Ballou of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Hannah Read, and her fiancé, Rafael Ventura, Alexander Read, and Jack Read; cousin, George Keough of East Bridgewater, Mass. Her husband and parents predeceased her.
Norma's family extends heartfelt thanks to her friends and caregivers, who blessed her with their loving attention.

, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe,150 Black Point Road, Scarborough at 3 p.m., and graveside burial at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.
