Marilyn L. (Farnsworth) Ballard
YARMOUTH - Marilyn L. (Farnsworth) Ballard, 80, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Hawthorne House in Freeport, after enduring many health issues. She was the wife of the late Carlton Ballard.
Marilyn was born in Portland on March 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Lelia (Withham) Farnsworth. Marilyn was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1957, and Westbrook Junior College (now UNE).
Marilyn lived in the home she designed and built, until the very end. She will be remembered as a hard worker. She held several office jobs during her lifetime. Her final two were as a day care operator from 1989-1996; and then as a nutrition worker for the Yarmouth School Department, until finally retiring. She was active in two bowling leagues, two bridge leagues, and was a "Red Hatter."
She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Bailey and her husband, Robert; and Heidi Brzoska and her husband, Raymond. Marilyn also leaves three grandchildren, Nicholas Shumate; Lindsi Shumate and her fiancé, Paul Muehle; and Cameron Bailey and his fiancée, Caroline Baker; as well as two stepgrandchildren, Susan Carignan and her companion, Shawn Labrie; and Thomas Bailey and his fiancée, Becky Barrows; two great-stepgrandchildren, Kevin Carignan and Madison Bailey; and many lifelong friends who will miss her tremendously.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Hawthorne House for the wonderful care she received during her five-month stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Sat., March 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wilde Memorial Chapel in Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland.
