Marc Galbraith, 70
PORTLAND - Marc Galbraith passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Maine Medical Center on March 13, 2017. Marc was born March 12, 1947 in Portland, the only child of William Galbraith and Ellen Hills Galbraith.
Marc grew up in Stanwood Park, and attended South Portland schools. During high school and early college years he worked for the Portland Press Herald. Marc graduated from USM in 1969. He was hired to teach by Scarborough schools after student teaching at the high school. Over his 30 year career he touched the lives of many students while teaching French, history, government, and geography. He coached tennis, and was often yearbook advisor. He enjoyed many seasons running the "time clock" at basketball games.
Marc married Susan Haskell in 1970 at Elm Street Methodist Church where they were members of MYF, and eventually the Methodist Young Adults together they enjoyed square dancing, camping, and traveling with family.
Marc also liked serving as a South Portland Reserve Police Officer after training at the Police Academy. He was a frequent negotiator of Scarborough School employee contracts. Volunteering in South Portland in later years for South Portland Music Boosters he served as President, "pit crew member" and as a beano caller.
Marc eventually earned his Masters degree from USM in Education and his administrative credentials serving as interim Assistant Principal as needed.
Marc's passion was collecting political memorabilia which he shared with his friend and business partner Bruce DeMay, as members of American Political Item Collectors.
Marc's pride was his daughters, and being their dad.
He is survived by his wife Susan; and three daughters Kristin Schwerin, and husband Ryan Schwerin, Karen Galbraith, and Kelly Galbraith; mother-in-law, Virginia Haskell; and sister-in-law Janice Haskell; grandson Ralph Braden IV, his fiancée Autumn Wright and great-granddaughter Veronica Braden.

, 671, US Rt. 1, Scarborough on Saturday April 8, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Scarborough High School Auditorium.
