Lois Marston Duquette, 68
OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Lois Marston Duquette, 68, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away Oct. 3, 2017, with her family at her side, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, due to a cerebral aneurysm.
She was born in Saco on July 27, 1949, to Llewellyn Marston and Hazel Mahoney. Her parents passed away when she was young, and she was raised by Charles and Dorothy Roy, of Old Orchard Beach.
She attended local schools and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School Class of 1967. She received her accounting degree from Andover College and was employed by HP Hood and Sons in Portland until 1977.
In 1973, she joined the Old Orchard Beach Rescue Unit, where she met her future husband, Ralph W. Duquette. They were married June 7, 1975, at Saint Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach.
In 1982, she got her hairdressing license and opened Heritage Creations Beauty Salon for many years. In 1989, along with her husband, they founded the Old Orchard Beach Sun Times, a local weekly newspaper. After selling the newspaper, she was employed by Davids Sub Shop in Old Orchard Beach.
She is survived by three children, William Duquette and Gigi Duquette, of Saco; Nicholas and Ekaterina Duquette, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and Heather and Dan Casoria, of Waterville; and her brothers-in-law, Robert and Kathy Duquette, of Wyomissing, Pa.; and Richard and Susan Duquette, of Saco.
She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Emmanuel Francis Duquette, Annabella Jeanne Duquette and Andrew Nannery Duquette, all of Saco; and Evan Daniel Duquette and Vivienne Lorraine Duquette, both of Fort Mill, S.C. She also leaves behind her faithful service dog, Dexter.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. To share condolences on line, please visit: www.HopeMemorial.com.
