SCARBOROUGH / WARREN, N.J. - Jurien "Jerry" Garrison, 84, passed away on Friday Jan. 10, 2019, at Gosnell Hospice Hospital in Scarborough. Jerry is now in peace after a tough year of health issues.

He was born in Union, N.J. to his mother, Marjorie Garrison. Jerry played football and basketball at Roselle High School and after graduation he joined the Navy and served on the US Midway during the Korean War. Jerry had a 35-year career with Bell Telephone. Jerry volunteered with the New Jersey Pioneers for 20 years as well as volunteered for the Warren Township Rescue Squad for 20 years.

Jerry married his wife of 59 years, JoLee, in 1958. JoLee and Jerry lived in Fanwood, N.J. until they moved to Warren, N.J. in 1974. Since the loss of his wife, JoLee, in November of 2017, Jerry resided with his son Gary and daughter in-law Alison in Scarborough.

Jerry will be remembered for his passion for fishing as well as his overwhelming passion of collecting. Jerry was a Charter Member of the Scotch Plains Players where he used his theatrical talents and ability to produce shows on stage. When moving to Warren Jerry became a member of the Warren Township Rescue Squad. Jerry served as a volunteer for 20 years, in many officer and administration capacities and is recognized as a Distinguished Life Member.

In retirement, JoLee and Jerry traveled and enjoyed life and each other to the fullest. Jerry was proudest when spending cherished time with his children and grandchildren while visiting family during the holidays and vacationing. Jerry especially loved his fishing trips to Maine, Florida, Mexico and Alaska. Jerry's most beloved times were at Longwood Lake, N.J. where he has been a summer resident since 1934.

Jerry is survived by his son and daughter in-law Gary and Alison Garrison of Scarborough, his daughter Glee Garrison-Hobbs of Canton Ga.; his four grandchildren, Alexis Garrison of Portland, Jurien Garrison of New York City, and Tyler and Aidan Hobbs of Canton, Ga. Jerry is also survived by his sister Sharon Pennington and his brother Robert Garrison.

The family would like to thank Jerry's care givers this past year, especially Comforter Keepers of Scarborough (and Dad's special friend Newt) as well as Southern Maine Hospice and the Gosnell Hospital. The family would also like to thank the numerous friends here in Maine who continually visited with Dad.

Jerry will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

A memorial service this June will be planned at Jerry's favorite location Longwood Lake, Jefferson, N.J.
