FORT SMITH, Ark. - James "Jim" Raymond Rush of Fort Smith, Ark. passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2019, at age 67.

Jim was born in Millinocket, Maine, Nov. 29, 1951. He was the third of three children of Frank Raymond Rush and Lauretta Bell (Luke) Rush.

He served our country in the Army and Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1976. After leaving the military Jim served the State of Arkansas in Arkadelphia's Clark County Sheriff's Department and Police Department. He returned to Sebastian County Sheriff's Department until he retired as a Captain in 1999. After retiring he went to work for TSA in Fort Smith after 911 and worked there until total retirement in 2012 as a Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Manning) Rush of 27 years; daughter Marcia (Rush) Bartlett and husband Chris Bartlett of Fort Smith; two stepsons Bryan Corley and wife Lisa of Norfolk, Neb. and Shawn Corley of Spiro, Okla. He is also survived by seven beloved grandkids, Katelyn (Bartlett) Dieffenbacher and Erich of Temecula, Calif., Caleb Bartlett of Fort Smith, Ark., Megan Corley of Spiro, Okla., Shawn Michael Corley of Spiro, Okla, Brycen James Corley of Tampa, Fla., and JoJo and Bella Corley of Norfolk, Neb. He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Bob Rush and Betsy Dewitt.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Fentress Mortuary Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Ark. with burial to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 Garland Ave. Fort Smith, Ark. Family will greet friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at the funeral home.
