James (Jimmy) Martin Hogan
SOUTH PORTLAND - It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that the family of James (Jimmy) Martin Hogan are announcing his passing on Aug. 6, 2018.
Jimmy was a 1989 graduate of South Portland High School. After high school, he worked locally at various companies before becoming a parent to his two sons. The births of Tanner and Colby were his proudest moments. He lit up when he would talk about how proud he was and how much he loved "the boys.".
He loved spending time with his sons as babies and young boys singing lullabies in only a way he could to both of them. "Cats in the Cradle" and various songs by his favorite groups including Van Halen were part of the list of "lullabies."
Jimmy and his dad Bill Hogan shared their love for the outdoors with both of the boys while spending time at the family hunting camp in Athens. Jimmy's love for hunting and target shooting is something he shared with many at what he lovingly referred to as "the camp."
Jimmy and the boys also spent significant time with his longtime companion Beth Peavey and her family at their farm in Corina. Jimmy loved being out there away from the hustle and bustle of "city life" with the people that he cared about so much.
He had far too many friends to name. He had a bigger-than-life personality and a sense of humor that was unmatched. The sense of humor that he had drew people to him wherever he went. He had a way with everyone from small children to grandparents and everyone in between that would light up a room.
His loyalty and compassion towards those that he cared about was unmatched. If you needed his help, he was there no questions asked.
Jimmy was predeceased by his father, William (Bill) M. Hogan, III. He is survived by his longtime companion and best friend Beth Peavey; sons Tanner and Colby Hogan; the mother of his children, Charmain Piacitelli; grandmother Margaret Hogan; his mother Barbara White, his father's longtime companion Shirlee Smith; brother Jeffery Hogan, sister Jennifer Campbell, The Peavey family, niece Kathryn Campbell and nephew Bode Hogan.
In accordance with Jimmy's wishes, there will be no services.
