SCARBOROUGH - James C. Emery, 68, passed away after a long illness on Dec 31, 2018.

He was born in Portland on August 18, 1950, to Donald and Sonia Emery. He was a graduate of Scarborough High School and the New Brunswick Bible Institute, Woodstock, NB, Canada.

He was employed for many years first at Snow's Canning and then Barber Foods before driving local delivery for Advance Auto Parts. Some may have known him for his times working at Sandy Cove Bible Camp in New Brunswick, Canada. Church was very important to him; he was very active in his church until health issues sadly made it no longer possible.

'Jim', as he was more often called, had a very outgoing personality and a heart of gold. His interest in a variety of topics guaranteed enjoyable engaging conversations. The neighborhood elderly ladies could count on him for kind deeds or caring assistance. James was an avid sports fan who enthusiastically supported Scarborough school sports and all New England's professional teams.

James light and love will be greatly missed by his wife Gayle Kervin Emery, previously of Moncton, NB Canada; his son Seth Emery of Scarborough; brother Raymond Emery and wife Marie, sisters Patricia Emery and Tris Tirol. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Franklin Emery.

A very special thank you to the CNAs and RNs on R7 at the Maine Medical Center who were particularly caring and thoughtful to both James and the family.

There will be no services as per his request. You are invited to join the family for an open house to celebrate his life on Saturday, Jan. 26, between 1-3 p.m. at his sister Patricia's home on 18 Church St, Scarborough.
