Horace "Buster" York Jr., 61
LIMINGTON - Horace "Buster" York Jr. passed away on Jan. 8, 2018, at 61, as a result of complications with bypass surgery.
Horace was a person who loved people. He had a very outgoing personality and a wonder-ful laugh.
He was a Bonny Eagle graduate who had many work experiences over the years. He owned and operated a pool hall in Limington and most recently had a company called Productive Construction, which was involved with building cell phone tower sites. His son, Horace "Nathan," worked with him, along with his brother Donnie and others.
He loved playing poker and competed in poker tournaments and won a $100,000 game once.
He will be missed by many.
Horace is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Patty; and Patty's son Cody and daughter Savannah. He loved Savannah's son, Jack, and enjoyed attending Jack's ball games. Horace is survived by his sons, Horace York III, and his wife Heather and his one-year-old grandson, who carries his name. He is also survived by his son, Harlan, and his companion Sara. Harlan was with his Dad everyday. He is survived by his grandson, Harlan Jr., and Harlan Jr.'s mother, Jami. Horace adored his grandson, Harlan Jr., who loved his Grampie. He is survived by his only daughter, Geneva York, of Old Town. He was so proud of her service in the Army in the military police. She served three tours of duty in Iraq. Later, she earned her master's degree in science biology. She is now living and working in New Mexico. Also surviving is his children's mother, Teri Anderson.
Horace is survived by his parents, Nina and Dennis, of Buxton, whom he loved dearly; and his siblings, William and his wife Betsy, Michael and his wife Kim, Turla and her husband Roy, Donald and his wife Peggy, Tammy and her husband Denny, and Dennis Jr. and his wife Kim. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by Harlan and Sara's baby, Memphis.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, Jan. 15, from 12-2 p.m. at the
Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel,
498 Long Plains Rd. (Route 22), in Buxton. Near the conclusion of the visiting hours at 1:30 p.m., there will be an opportunity for folks to share their memories of Horace. A reception will follow. Burial will be in the spring at Brooklawn Memorial Park, in Portland. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com.
