Herbert Joseph Kimball, 88
SCARBOROUGH - Herbert Joseph Kimball, 88, passed away quietly on Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, 2017, at the Maine Vet-erans Home in Scarborough, after a long respiratory ailment.
Herbert was born June 24, 1929, the son of Joseph Kimball and Dorothy Hill Kimball. He had four siblings, Ned, Mildred, Norma, and George. Herbert was predeceased by Ned and George. He graduated from Windham High School, Class of 1948.
While delivering grain to a farm in Cumberland, he met the love of his life, Patricia Romano. Herb said it was "love at first sight," and they married Feb. 3, 1951.
He was drafted into the Army and spent some time in Germany. After returning home, Herb and Pat had three children, Judith, David and Bruce. Herb worked as a lift truck technician for many years, starting at Eastman Tractor in Portland, the James Wiltsie Company, and Hyster, in South Portland.
Herb and Pat enjoyed camping and for many years had camp lots at campgrounds in the Oxford area. After retiring, Herb and Pat spent winters in Wauchula, Fla., which they enjoyed immensely.
Herbert lost his love, Patricia, in November 2012.
He made many friends at the VA Home in Scarborough, and was known for his model-making skills.
Herbert leaves five grandchildren, Shawn, James and Sarah Bouffard, Derek Kimball, and Jesse Childers. He also leaves seven great-grand-children, Brooks, Logan, Ben, Morgan, Fiona, Clayton and Miles.
Hebert had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved very much. He will be sorely missed.
