Henrietta W.
Bradley, 94
CAPE ELIZABETH - Henrietta W. Bradley, 94, died on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Portland, surrounded by her loving family. Henrietta was born on Oct. 28, 1923, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Harvey H. and June (Ogden) Garran. Henrietta grew up in Bangor with her sister, Crystal, where they attended local schools. Henrietta graduated from Bangor High School in the Class of 1941.
Henrietta met the love of her life and future husband, Russell Bradley, when she was working at his father's candy shop in Bangor. Although she was not too keen about Russell at first, the two grew fond of each other and the two married on Oct. 1, 1949, in Bangor.
Henrietta was a loving wife and mother. She was an excellent cook, a member of the local gardening club, and, in her spare time she volunteered at the Thomas Memorial Library. She also enjoyed collecting solar powered bobble heads as well as feeding and watching her backyard birds. In her 90s, she enjoyed trips with her daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, Tom, to Vermont, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. Wherever she went, people loved her and wanted to be around her sweet and gentle persona.
Henrietta was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Russell Bradley; a son, Robert Bradley; and a sister, Crystal Wing. She is survived by Judith Commeau, daughter, and her husband Thomas of New York; Lynn Brown, daughter, and her husband, Frederick Jr., of Westbrook; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Katelyn, Joshua, Bradley, Chad; a great-grandchild, Harmony; and nieces, Brenda, Allison, and Sharon.
The family would like to thank Diane Rolfe, her in-home CNA and dear friend; the Mercy Hospital's doctors, nurses, and extended staff members as well as the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough for their loving and attentive care of Henrietta. They would also like to thank their dear cousins and friends for their love and support.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at the
