Frances I. (Ahlquist) Hoppes, 94
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Frances I. (Ahlquist) Hoppes, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Nov. 29, 2017, at Oakwood Village, Ohio.
Frances was born on July 30, 1923, in Scarborough. She was the daughter of Carl "Toy" and Adelaide (Temm) Ahlquist.
Frances served in the U.S. Navy as a ship's cook until her honorable discharge on May 6, 1946. While in Washington, D.C., she met and later married Warren H. Hoppes, who was in the U.S. Army. They were married 51 years.
Frances looked forward to her yearly visits to Maine. She loved her family and friends and took a great interest in their lives.
Survivors include her two children, Joyce (Michael) Mouser, of Springfield; and Robert (Judy) Hoppes, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; siblings, Leon (Ann) Ahlquist and Robert (Kay) Ahlquist, of Scarborough; sisters-in-law, Kathy Hoppes, of Springfield; Dagmar Ahlquist, of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren H. Hoppes, in 1997; siblings, Clarence Ahlquist and Althea Green, of Scarborough; and Olaf Ahlquist, of Lincoln, Neb.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from 10:30-11 a.m. at Ferncliff "Chapel," 501 West McCreight Ave., Springfield, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron Green officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Ferncliff Funeral Home.
