Dennis H. Doherty Sr. 1947 - 2018 STANDISH - Dennis H. Doherty Sr. passed away on Dec. 3, 2018, at the age of 71. Dennis graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1966. He married Cynthia E. Smith on May 27, 1967, and together they had four children.Dennis was predeceased by his wife, Cynthia. He is survived by his longtime companion, Holly Mains; his sons, Dennis Jr., Jeffery, and Michael and his daughter Lisa. Dennis had three granddaughters, Nicole, Destiny, and Koral Doherty and a grandson, Chance Doherty. He had two foster grand-daughters, Nicole Delisle and Kayla Carrigan; and a great-granddaughter, Profet.Dennis was a proud Navy veteran who served three years, mostly on the Richard L. Page DEG-5 as a plank owner. He worked two jobs to support his family for many years. He was the co-owner of Shed Happens, Inc., with his son, Michael. Dennis also retired from the South Portland Fire Department in 1995 after more than two decades. Dennis enjoyed traveling and hunting with his sons.The family would like to thank the staff at The Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough for their support during this difficult time.There will be a private graveside burial in the spring. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, from 1-4 p.m. at The American Legion Hall, located at 300 Conant Street, Westbrook. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, 13 Portland Road, Buxton (Bar Mills) is entrusted with the arrangements. Providing service to our Veterans with Honor.
