Christine M. (McNeil) Connolly, 71
JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. - Christine M. (McNeil) Connolly passed away on February 8, 2017. She was born in Presque Isle on April 9, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Ruth Z. (Bonville) McNeil.
She graduat-ed from Portland High School, the Class of 1963.
Chris (as she was called) was very friendly and outgoing. She had an infectious laugh and a warm smile for all, and was always open for hugs.
She had many a job, starting at the age of 15, but found her calling while working as a Disaster Relief Specialist for the American Red Cross in Portland. There were many who benefitted from her giving personality while helping them recuperate from disasters.
She was very talented at craft-making, and made Christmas special for her two daughters and others every year with handcrafted Christmas ornaments.
One of her other interests was collecting turtles of every kind. Those who knew her, know she never met a turtle she did not like.
She leaves two daughters, Denise M. Chamberland, of Glendale, Calif.; and Shannon Robertson of Johns Island, S.C.; a brother, John T. McNeil and his wife Cheryl, of Windham; and a niece, Carrie Robinson and family, of Windham.
There will be no visiting hours or funeral services at the request of the deceased. Her remains are to be taken to her beloved Ireland and cast to the wind.
