Christina "Tina" Lynn Valente 1953 - 2018 STANDISH - Christina "Tina" Lynn Valente, 64, passed away on Oct. 11, 2018 at the Springbrook Center in Westbrook. She was born on Oct. 31, 1953, in Moncton, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Neil and Mary (Calvin) Hicks.

Tina was a graduate of Simonds High School in Saint John, NB and furthered her education at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, NB, receiving her Bachelor's degree. After moving to Maine, Tina was employed at the Elan school in Poland, Maine for several years where she worked as a counselor for the students. She later began working at the United States Postal Service as a distribution clerk where she met her future husband, Brian Valente. On Oct. 12, 2003, Brian and Tina were married.

A well-respected colleague, Tina was elected a shop steward amongst her co-workers and was Secretary of Union APWU 458. She was also a member of the Women's Fellowship. In her free time, Tina enjoyed making memories with her husband Brian and going camping, canoeing, and fishing. Tina especially loved to spend time with her step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews all of whom she adored.

She is survived by her loving husband, Brian Valente Sr. of Standish; step-children, Brian Valente Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Valerie (Corey) Harmon of Limington; a sister, Rindy (Tom) Austin of Fredericton, NB, Canada; step-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, and Brooke Harmon of Limington; nieces and nephew, Erika (Garth) Allen of Salisbury, NB, Canada, Elizabeth (Chris) Wilcox of Hampton, NB, Canada, and Evans (Krista) Austin of Edmonton, AB, Canada; great-nieces and great-nephews, Tomilyn and Cash Allen, Jeffrey and Janaya Wilcox and Ella and Brooklyn Austin.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Standish Congregational Church, 25 Oak Hill Road, Standish. The family would like to thank the staff at Springbrook Center and Compassus Hospice for all their wonderful care and support.
