Barbara Whitney Rogers Obituary
Barbara Whitney Rogers, 74
LAKE WALES, Fla. - Barbara Whitney Rogers passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved husband, Arthur M. Rogers, Jr. of 50 years and her children after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Barbara Whitney in Glen Cove, N.Y. on Sept. 25, 1941 to George and Phyllis Whitney, the second of three children. She grew up in Old Westbury, N.Y. and Oklahoma City, Okla. She graduated from the Cassidy School in Oklahoma City in 1958 and went on to Pine Manor College, graduating in 1961. She then moved to New York City where she met her future husband, Arthur, and they were married in 1965 in Beverly Farms, Mass.
Shortly thereafter, her husband was transferred overseas with JP Morgan and they embarked on an exciting 14 year adventure with their growing family to Milan, Paris, Kuwait and London. Barbara loved living overseas, collecting friends everywhere, and enthusiastically set up loving homes for her family in each location. Upon retirement, she spent many wonderful years in Mountain Lake, Fla. and Prouts Neck, ME playing golf, tennis and bridge, entertaining her friends with her wonderful sense of humor, and spending time with her children, their friends and her 10 grandchildren. She took great pleasure in watching sports and in particular cheering from the sidelines at her children and grandchildren's games.
In addition, she supported East Woods School, where she was a member of the Board of Trustees, the North Shore Garden Club and Mountain Lake, where she served on various committees.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her loving husband, their three children, Arthur M. Rogers III, Alison R. Knight and Whitney R. Malkiel, and their spouses, Elen, Jimmy and Jon; her 10 grandchildren: Jimmy Jr., Jack, Charlie, Whit, Henry, Kate, Will, Porter, Mackie and George, her sister Joan Hollister, her brother George Whitney, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church, Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the:
