Arsine Antranigian Obituary
Arsine Antranigian, 89
PORTLAND - Arsine Antranigian, 89, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015, at the Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland on Aug. 26, 1925, one of five children to Armenian Genocide survivors Armenag Antranigian and Arshalous Semerdjian Antranigian.
She had a lengthy and successful career in the business world as an administrative assistant in finance and banking. Her time with Mobile Oil Corporation proved to be very fulfilling as well.
Her passion for all things sports could only be matched by her complete dedication to family and friends. As a senior at Portland High School in 1943, Arsine was described in her yearbook as "Sincere in everything, she's pleasing to know." During that year she also showed her athletic prowess by captaining the basketball team along with competing in swimming, softball, and field hockey. Her efforts were rewarded as she received the coveted Frank P. Preti award for outstanding athlete and honor student.
Arsine was predeceased by her siblings, Zaven, Anahis, Kerkor and Zohrab; sister-in-law Rose; and niece Sally Kierstead. She is survived by her nephew, Hagop Antranigian of Mendon, Mass., his wife Claudia and their sons Armenag and Aram; niece, Susan Dumas of Windham, and her son Sean and his children Mirabella and Zaden; niece, Linda Kechejian of Arlington, Mass., her husband Steven and their children Anahis and Antranig; niece Mary Stout of Newport News, Va., her husband Richard and their daughter Sarah; niece Laura Antranigian of Portland; great-nephew Stephen Kierstead of Falmouth, his wife Katie and their daughter Kallie; great-niece Stephanie Quinn of Boston, Mass., her husband Robert and their children Theodore and Charlotte.
A time of visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland.
