Anne F. Ramsdell Obituary
Anne F. Ramsdell, 94
SCARBOROUGH - Anne F. Ramsdell passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a brief illness. Her beloved granddaughter Kristi was watching over her as she joined Charles in heaven.
Anne was born in Pawtucket, R.I. in 1921, the daughter of Edmund and Dorothy (Stearn) Flint. Her family moved to Flushing Queens, N.Y. and then to North Attleboro, Mass. where she graduated from high school. She went on to college at Westbrook Junior College here in Portland, ME. She attended many reunions of both North Attleboro High School and Westbrook Junior.
Her first employment was at Brown University where she was the secretary to the head of the Political Science Dept. She was a communicant and secretary to the Rector of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Cape Elizabeth. A full-time mother when her children were young, she returned to work first at the Portland Museum of Art. She was then employed as a proof reader at Anthonsen Press and Forest City Printing (her husband's company). She also did proof reading for the Cape Courier.
Anne lived most of her adult life in Cape Elizabeth in two different lively neighborhoods with short moves to South Portland and Farmington. Most recently she has lived at 75 State in Portland in Independent Living. She was for a short time adjusting to Assisted Living at Bellavita in Scarborough. The family would like to thank staff at both facilities for their kindness and assistance over the last eight years.
Loving wife and caring mother, she was also passionate about playing bridge. She and her husband of over 50 years, Charles, spent 23 winters in Dade City, Fla. where they were active members of Bluebird Community-golf, cards, pancake breakfasts, and spaghetti dinners.
Anne was predeceased by her husbands George Tibbetts Jr. and Charles F. Ramsdell. She is survived by her children Stephanie Colpitts (Richard), Valory Omasta (Mark) and Bradford Tibbetts; grandchildren Jeffery Colpitts and Kristi Robinson, Kristen Omasta, and Kazu and Ray Tibbetts. She has many great and great-great-grandchildren as well.
