Andrew E. Campbell Obituary
Andrew Erle Campbell, 32
PORTLAND - Andrew Erle Campbell, 32, long time resident of Portland and Brunswick, died on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1983, in Hampton, Va., the son of James Sherman and Teri Lynn (Rogers) Campbell. Andrew was educated in Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School with the class of 2001.
He served his country in the Army National Guard for eight years and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom assigned to the 133rd Engineering Battalion of Portland.
He continued his education attending the University of Southern Maine in Portland and received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.
Andrew loved many genres of music (however, he maintained a profound hatred of Ska), and was a self-taught guitarist since the age of 12.
He was a politically motivated individual who was actively supportive of many grass roots efforts including Operation Freedom.
He will be remembered as an intellectual, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and a great appreciation for film and literature. Andrew had an off-putting, yet hilarious sense of humor that will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.
Andrew is survived by his father, James S. and his wife Patricia Campbell of Stafford, Va., his mother Teri R. Campbell of Brunswick; his sister, Courtney R. Campbell of Ferndale, Mich.; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Dout of Brunswick, paternal grandmother Edith Gunter of Gladstone, Va.; three stepbrothers, Steven and Jonathan Simmons of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tony Simmons of Amherst, Va.; three uncles, Jerry Campbell of Lynchburg, Va., Larry Campbell of Evington, Va., Kevin Mays of Buena Vista, Va., and his aunt, Sharon Tomlin of Oklahoma.
Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A Time of Remembrance will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday. To share a message of condolence or fond memory of Andrew with his family, please visit www.brackettfuneralhome.com
