BIDDEFORD - Abbie M. Martin, born in Standish, on Sept. 30, 1929, closed her eyes to this challenging world on Jan. 13, 2019.

Abbie was known to her five children as "Mama."

Her first born, Steven Seymore predeceased her in 2016, of whom she nicknamed "Buttercup."

Surviving children include, Raymond Seymore of California, William Seymore of Arundel, Doris Grover of Tennessee, and Mary Meuse of Scarborough. Abbie is leaving behind a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was married to Wilfred Martin (Butch) for 42 years. Abbie was a caring, giving, and dedicated wife; she gave her heart to him.

Abbie kept her fond memories of growing up on "The Farm" with her siblings, Florence, Janice, Eleanor, Linda, Elaine, Avis, and two brothers, Leon and Philip. This contributed to the lady she became, she was known to all who met her as "The Strong Lady." Her laughter was so loud it was silent. Abbie kept her smile and wit engaged, which will remain as an inheritance to her family.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given from Hospice, and to the Gosnell House, especially to those who made Abbie comfortable.

Family is welcome to attend a graveside service at Brooklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook, ME 04092. To express condolences or participate in Abbie's online tribute, please visit
