Richard S. "Skip" Carson

Richard S. "Skip" Carson, 85
PORTLAND - Richard S. "Skip" Carson, 85, passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at his residence on Allen Avenue.
Skip was born in Portland on Oct. 12, 1932, to parents Rita Carson and James DiFillipo. He graduated from Portland High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
After service to his country, he worked as a forklift operator for the Portland Company on Commercial Street. He then worked at the B&M Baked Beans company as a maintenance technician until his retirement. He was an active member at Portland VFW Hall, the American Legion, and the Italian Heritage Club.
Skip met, fell in love with and married Ursula Ricci, of Portland. He quickly became a son and brother to the Ricci family, who loved him very much.
Together they bought their beautiful country home and longtime residence on Bear Hill Road in Hollis. Skip immensely enjoyed the food that Ursula grew in her garden and cooked for the family. He was an avid swimmer and maintained their backyard pool in which he swam almost every day. Many family gatherings were enjoyed at their Hollis home.
Skip was predeceased by his brothers, John "Jackie" Napolitano and Joseph "Buddy" Napolitano, both of Portland; as well as his wife, Ursula, in 2004.
He is survived by his three sons, Richard Carson Jr., of Florida; Joseph Carson, of Hollis; and Michael Carson, of Buxton; and by his brother, Peter "Scotty" Napolitano, of Portland. Skip had a very special place in his heart for each of his five grandchildren: Jordan, Jamie, Samantha, Sheri, and Tony; as well as three great-grandchildren. He always had sodas and candy bars stocked and ready for them.
