Ray Russell Pallas, 72
WINDHAM – Ray Russell Pallas, 72, of Windham died unexpectedly, on Jan. 21, 2015 at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Cortland, NY on April 10, 1942, he was the son of Vernon Russell and Leota (Ray) Pallas. He was raised in Hastings, Mich. and Fairfield Conn. and was a 1961 graduate of Andrew Warde High School, in Fairfield. After high school, Ray enrolled at Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in History. All of his life, Ray remained a loyal Michigan State Alumni and was a huge supporter of their football and basketball programs. While living in Michigan, Ray worked for the Michigan Civil Rights Commission.
On July 2, 1964, he married his childhood sweetheart, Pamela M. Elliott in Chappaqua, NY. As a couple, they raised one daughter and this past July, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
In 1970, Ray and Pamela relocated to Maine so he could attend the University Of Maine School Of Law, in Portland. He graduated from there in 1973 with his Law Degree. That same year, Ray passed the Bar and opened his own law office in Westbrook where he has practiced for the past 42 years.
He was a long time member of the Cumberland County Bar and the Portland Senior Lawyers. His interest included reading academic history, wood working and renovating his camp in the Sebago Lakes Region. Ray also enjoyed fishing and travelling with his wife, and over the years, he enjoyed great pleasure and comfort in his favorite dogs.
A brother, Wallis Pallas predeceased him in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela E. Pallas, of Windham; his daughter, Kiersta Pallas Stallman, of Amherst, NH; two grandsons, Benjamin and Mitchell Stallman, both of Amherst and his acquired daughter and former exchange student, Gia Blix and her husband Perra along with their two daughters, Erika and Linda, of Ludvika, Sweden. Ray would want to acknowledge the special strength from his close personal friends of the past 25 years.
There are no visiting hours. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Reverend Sally Colegrove will officiate. Burial will be private.
