Dorothy Woodbridge Dash , 60
WATERTOWN, Mass. - Dorothy (Dodie) Woodbridge Dash of Watertown, Mass. passed away on March 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She died at the age of 60.
Dodie was born in Providence, R.I. She is the daughter of Henry Woodbridge, Jr. of Pomfret, Conn. and Rosamond Elliott of Tryon, N.C.
Dodie attended Wheeler School in Providence, RN, RISD, CCAC, and the
University of Washington
Her nursing career included working at Harborview in Seattle, Wash. and fulfilling many roles as a community health nurse on both the East and West coasts. She obtained her nurse practioner degree and practiced at the Concord Maximum Prison, Tufts University Health Services, and helped with the development of inner city school clinics in the Boston Public School System. She was employed by Carney Hospital for 10 years.
A lover of travel, Dodie spent time working on farms in New Zealand. She sailed around Fiji, the Solomon Islands, and Papau New Guinea. During her travels she did service work in Tasmania, Austrailia, and New Guinea. She cycled throughout Europe and had a great love for hiking in the Pacific Northwest.
Dodie was an artist and loved to work with clay, jewelry, stained glass and batik.
Dodie had an indominable love for life. Her charismatic personality touched hearts everywhere. Her love had no bounds. Her generosity extended to all who knew her. She was devoted to all her family and friends.
Dodie is survived by her husband Tony Dash; her father Henry S. Woodbridge and his wife Phyllis Woodbridge, her mother Rosamond Elliott and her husband JOhn Eliott; her sister Winty Woodbridge, her sister Kim McCann and her husband Joel McCann, her brother Trip Woodbridge and his significant other Leslie Korpinen; nieces Jessie Hutchings, Skyler Bryan, Teal Bryan, Patience McCann, nephews Timothy McCann, Jonathan McCann, Robert McCann,; grand niece Adala McCann; and her good friend Ivy Doo.
Her spirit will forever light the way for all who knew her.
A service will be held at the Mount Auburn Cemetery Storrey Chapel on April 5, 2014 at 2:00. A reception will follow at the Bigelow Chapel from 3:00-7:00, also on the cemetary grounds.
