Jeanne Karen Joyce, 70
CARY, N.C. -- Jeanne Karen Joyce, 70, formerly of Portland, died on Aug. 6, 2013, at her home in Cary surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Portland, the daughter of Arnold H. and Kathleen A. Mooney Walp. Jeanne attended local schools and was a graduate of Portland High School. She was a graduate of Cambridge School of Business earning a degree as a medical assistant.
In 1968 she married her seventh grade sweetheart, Richard E. 'Dick' Joyce. Jeanne and Dick raised three children. The family moved several times following Dick's 36 year career with IBM, settling in Cary.
Jeanne was an exceptional homemaker who loved to read, was an avid gardener and she treasured her beloved KOI pond.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her beloved husband Dick in 2007. Jeanne is survived by her three children, Danielle Joyce of Apex, N.C., two sons, Tyler Joyce and his wife Jennifer of Pennington, N.J., Brandon Joyce and his wife Tania of Montclair, N.J.; a sister, Constance Coyne of Newfane, Vt.; three grandchildren, Kiara Joyce of Brooklyn, N.Y., Dylan Joyce of Pennington, N.J., Maya Joyce of Pennington, N.J.; and a sister- in-law, Patricia Crafts and her husband Stephen of Cape Elizabeth.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Wake County, N.C. for their wonderful care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland. Arrangements are being handled by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at:
