'Winnie' Winifred Avilda Olds, 88
BUXTON/WESTBROOK -- 'Winnie' Winifred Avilda Olds, 88, passed away after a period of declining health at Maine Medical Center on March 27, 2013.
She was born in Portland on April, 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Ralph and Nellie (Russell) Beal and grew up on Munjoy Hill.
After attending Portland High School, she went on to proudly raise her family.
Winnie was a member of the Bar Mills Community Church and the church's choir, and enjoyed belonging to the Red Hat Ladies in recent years.
She will always be remembered for the enjoyment she had playing Scrabble, quilting, canning, and making her famous peanut butter fudge.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband who passed away on Feb. 18, 1999, Warren H. Olds whom she wed on Nov. 19, 1941; and her siblings, Emerson Beal, Russell Beal, Eleanor Boothby, and Martha Tuttle. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Lynda Breton and her husband Gary of Sierra Madre, Calif., Leslie Brown and her husband James of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Lorna Tipton and her husband Gerald of South Portland; grandchildren, Mike Breton, Doug Perry, Jenn Tipton-Beard, and Mark Tipton; and her great- granddaughter, Hayley Breton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, from 1-2 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. celebration of life, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills), with the Rev. Malcolm Hall officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
