Woodbury Sr., 72
SOUTH PORTLAND -- David C. Woodbury Sr., 72, of South Portland, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at The Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough of Glioblastoma, after being diagnosed with brain cancer in July. David spent his last days surrounded with love by his family and friends.
David was born on Dec. 6, 1939, in Westbrook, the son of the late Charles S. Woodbury and Wilma A. Lawless Woodbury.
David is a 1958 graduate of Portland High School. David was employed by Hannaford Brothers, and retired after 43 years, in 2002. David was a 'Golden Eagle' at the Portland Eagles Club in Portland and past President. He was a member of the Moose Club of Scarborough.
He married Pat on Feb. 10, 1968, in Cape Elizabeth. Dave and Pat enjoyed boating, golfing, spending time in Florida, taking many trips to the Caribbean, donating their time at the Portland Eagles, and just enjoying their life together.
David was loved by many, as he was a kind, generous and wonderful man. Dave loved his family and was supportive of his children and grandchildren throughout his life. He coached many of his children's Little League teams.
David grabbed retirement with both hands, spending his days first on his lobster boat the 'Chelsea Beth' and then the 'Ann E' with his dear friend Richard 'Dickie Doo' Gallant, and golfing at Rivermeadow Golf Club in Westbrook in the Thursday Morning Senior League.
David leaves his loving memories to his wife of 44 years, Pat; his two sons, David Jr. and wife Deborah, James Woodbury and wife Rosa, his two daughters, Bonnie Crowe and husband Kevin, and Kimberly Woodbury Ingalls and fiance Jim (Bihm); step children, William Bryant and wife Lisa, Julie Pickens and husband David, Cheryl Thompson and husband Phil, and Michael Bryant and wife Lisa; brothers, Marvin and wife Cindy, Donald 'Woody' and wife Deborah, and Paul Perkins, and sisters, Laurel Mackie, Sandra Johnson and husband Wallace, Linda Cooledge and husband Clayton, Paula Boucher and husband Robert, Pamela Charles and husband Raibonne, Debbie Clark and husband Bruce, Priscilla Perkins and Patty Preston. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne. David and Pat have 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
