Martha was part of the Red Hat Society, Appalachian Mt. Club, and the City of Portland School Committee. She ran the volunteer thrift shop at Junior League, and helped start Children's Museum of Maine. She enjoyed cats, camping, the ocean, tending her house plants, participating in the church choir, Casco Bay, and Portland's Eastern Promenade. She was a very independent and strong person.
She was predeceased by Ernest Furnans and Cynthia and Fred Frey. She is survived by her sons, Nate and Matthew Willard; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Karen Furnans; grandchildrenm Simon and Quianna Willard, niece and nephew Jordan and Joanna Furnans; and several cousins from out of state.
