FALMOUTH -- JoAnn Cowles Becker Rose, born on March 7, 1931, in Lynnfield, Mass., to Mona and Sidney Cowles, passed on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, in Falmouth.
A graduate of Norwich University in Vermont, she married Dr. Ralph S. Becker (a professor of chemistry at the University of Houston) and resided in Houston were she raised her four children.
JR was active in the Dames Club at the University and started a design and dress business. She remarried Bill Rose and started her next adventure in Los Angeles. In LA, she served as a museum docent and worked for American Industrial Real Estate. Upon her retirement, she joined her sister Sidney in Falmouth.
JR is survived by her children, Janet Becker-Wold, Sherryl Day Becker and Scott Morgan Becker; her grandchildren, Madeline Rose (21), and Anna Louse Wold (17); her sister, Sidney Lincoln; and her niece and nephew, Alicia Wight and John Daniel Carr.
An avid reader, accomplished designer and artist, JR always lit up a room with her charm and vivacity. She lived life to the fullest and was loved by many.
Services will be held at the Emmaus Lutheran Church, 265 Middle Rd. (Route 9), Falmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m.
