SACO -- George R. Wiseman II, 61, of Saco, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Bay Pines Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla., after a long battle with stage four lung cancer.
He was born Sept. 20, 1948, in Princeton, the son of Thomas and Virginia Dana Wiseman. He attended Princeton schools and then St. Francis College and the University of Southern Maine.
George served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. On May 17, 1968, he married Barbara J. Blunt at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. He was employed as a Ship Fitter at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard for 25 years, retiring May 30, 1996. He also worked as a security guard at Bailey's Camp Ground.
George enjoyed reading, painting hunting and fishing. He enjoyed tinkering and motorcycles and taking long walks with 'The Hound,' Paddie.
He was predeceased by his son Ernie Wiseman in 1982. He is survived by his wife Barbara Wiseman of Saco; two daughters, Wendy Daniels and her fiancee Joseph Caiazzo of Saco, Tracy Waldon of Standish, two sons, Thomas Wiseman of Saco, Cheyenne Wiseman Sabbatus of Lincoln; and five grandchildren, Amber and James Daniels, Roderick Pringles, Casey Wiseman and George Waldon III.
Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
