Irene E. Pennell, 71
YARMOUTH -- Irene E. Pennell, 71, passed away Feb. 25, 2010 at Brentwood Nursing Center in Yarmouth. She was born June 22, 1938 in Portland to Enid Barnard and Albert Pennell. She was a long time member of the Eagles where she served as Madam Past President of the Fraternal Order of Casco Auxiliary 565 Eagles of Portland.
Irene mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as reading, shopping for collectibles, playing games 'dice' with family and watching mini-series and soap operas.
She is predeceased by her sister Anita Gower of Portland. She was loved by all who knew her thoughtfulness and kindness. She will be deeply loved and sadly missed. She is survived by her sister Penny Dennison and husband James Dennison of Yarmouth. She is also survived by daughters Julianne P. Dahlin formerly of Portland, Anita Hayward Vose and Lawrence T. Vose of Scarborough, Terri Jewell and Todd Jewell of South Portland, a son, Specialist Anthony G. Pennell of Portland; four grandchildren , Scott Hayward of Dixfield, Jamie-Leigh E. Vose Scarborough, Private First Class Jon-Lawrence T. Vose of Fort Drum, N.Y., and Amanda Marshall of South Portland; two great-grandchildren, Scott M. Hayward Jr. of Dixfield and Cherish Devine Vose of New York.
There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be 3 p.m., Monday, March 1st at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook. Arrangements made by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
