Cheryl D. Plaisted, 53
KENNEBUNK -- Cheryl D. Plaisted, 53, of Thompson Road, died on Monday, March 9, 2009, at her residence.
She was born in Hartford, Conn., on Feb. 2, 1956, the daughter of Richard G. and Patricia (Myers) Bennett. She grew up in Thompson, Conn. As a child, she showed Quarter horses and won many year end awards and challenge trophies on her favorite horse, 'Topper Honey.'
She graduated high school from Putnam Catholic Academy in 1974, and earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of New England in Biddeford. She was active in Greenpeace.
Over the years, Cheryl worked at several insurance companies, including Travelers in Hartford, and Cole Harrison in Kennebunk. She was currently employed at Community Partners in Biddeford.
In 1990 she married Scott Plaisted, from whom she was divorced in 1997. Cheryl struggled with a hereditary disease, HHT, throughout her life.
Survivors include her father Richard G. Bennett and his wife Dorothy of Thompson, Conn.; her brother Scott Bennett and his wife Kelly Thompson, sisters Susan Smith and her husband Dennis of Kennebunk, and Karol Bennett of Thompson; two nieces, Jassy Smith of Kennebunkport and Skyler Bennett of Thompson, nephew Luke Bennett of Thompson; stepsister Linda Gallagher and her husband Doug of Kennebunk and their children Haddie and Clayton, and stepbrother Richard Bryant of Wells.
There will be no visiting hours or services. As per her wishes, a party in her honor is tentatively scheduled for May 16, 2009. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. www.bibberfuneral.com.
