Obituary Condolences

Jane Cyr Spencer
BRUNSWICK -- Jane Cyr Spencer died at The Garden in Brunswick on June 9, 2014.
She was born in Tolne, Denmark on Sept. 7, 1919, to John and Katherine Andersen. When Jane was seven years old, the family immigrated to Edmunston, NB, Canada.
In 1941, she married Edward P. Cyr. They were married in Portland by the groom's brother, Msgr. Armand Cyr. They had five children: Margaret (Peggy) J. Bishop of Carrabassett, Michael E. Cyr of Broken Arrow, Okla., Thomas J. Cyr of Townsend, Mass., Gregory A. Cyr of Gorham, and Peter A. Cyr of Austin, Texas.
Several years after her husband Edward's death she moved to Florida where she met and married Cmdr. Howard J. Spencer.
Jane was a very loving, gentle, and generous person. She loved to dance and sing and was a member of the choir in Madawaska and Florida for many years.
She loved politics and she attended most sessions when her husband Edward P. Cyr was a senator in the Maine State Senate for 14 years. She was a very gracious hostess and entertained many dignitaries during her husband's career.
Her biggest passion, however, was golf. She earned many golf trophies throughout her years.
Jane is survived by 13 grandchildren: James E. Bishop of Boulder, Colo., Shelley Koenig of Carrabassett, Chris Cyr and Erin Cyr of Broken Arrow, Okla., Kim Vosburg of Topeka, Kan., Hans Cyr and Ian Cyr of Tulsa, Okla., Tim Cyr of Hayward, Calif., Jason Cyr of Marietta, Ga., Aaron Cyr of Boston, Mass., Justin Cyr of Portland, Nicolas Cyr of Gorham, and Katherine Cyr of Santa Monica, Calif. She also had 10 great-grandchildren; and five step children. Her only surviving sibling is Eric Andersen of Edmunston, NB, Canada.
Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. Condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com/obituaries.
