Joan Booth Adams, 82
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Joan Booth Adams, 82, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Joan was born in Beacon, N.Y., on May 17, 1931, the daughter of Ralph and Anna Booth. Joan moved to Ogunquit as a child.
After attending Colby-Sawyer College, she joined the United States Air Force and served as a weather forecaster in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Ted Adams. Following their marriage, they moved to Maryland where she lived for 28 years.
She was active in the Children's Aid Society and The League of Women Voters. During this time she also learned to play bridge which formed the basis of many lifetime friendships.
She returned to Ogunquit in 1986 where she lived until her passing.
Joan had been a member of Ogunquit Baptist Church for 67 years. Her faith was her foundation. She was a good friend, a wonderful mother, and a generous, faithful servant.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and George Quinlan; granddaughters, Elisabeth Brown and Laurel Brown; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Lily and Aeva, and Tony Stewart; and many dearly loved friends and extended family.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the care and loving support of her physicians Dr. Robert Helm, Dr. Alan Hymanson, and Dr. Michael Major, as well as the ICU staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, all of whom cared for her with the greatest skill and respect.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service in Perkins Cove in Ogunquit on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon at her home in celebration of a life of love and faith. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, is assisting with arrangements. Visit www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com.
