William Edward "Bill" Hatch, 77

NORTH GORHAM - William Edward "Bill" Hatch, 77, passed away at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Jan. 30, 2018, after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 16, 1940, and was raised by his mother, Mae (Bowler) Hill, and stepfather, Clifford Hill.

Bill grew up in North Gorham, and graduated from Gorham High School in the class of 1959.

After school, he worked at S.D. Warren for a few years before joining the Army National Guard. Bill made a career with the National Guard and was stationed for 22 years at the Stevens Avenue armory in Portland before retiring. He later worked as a truck driver for GLB construction for many years.

On March 22, 2004, he married Kimberly Johns.

Bill was a true Mainer who enjoyed hunting, camping and attending the local bean suppers. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent on family moose hunts, which included one trip to Island Falls and two trips to the Ashland area in the great northern woods.

His summers were often filled with family camping trips to Sebago Lake State Park. Bill was a supporter of the local school sports teams and especially enjoyed watching his grandkids play. He will be remembered for great sense of humor and love for his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kimberly Hatch; children, Amy Hatch, Nate Hatch and his wife Terri, and Julie Hatch and her significant other, Mohamed Kebdani; stepchildren, Ricky Rand and his wife Heather, and Michele Rand; sisters, Antonya "Toni" King and Rebecca Hill; a close cousin, Dot Wheeler; grandchildren, Marjorie, Rhiannon, Liam, Noah, Lana, Stacia, Ambrose, Allie, Lilith, and Rumi; and one great-grandchild, Rowan.

A memorial potluck bean supper will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at Windham American Legion, 35 Veterans Memorial Dr., Windham. All are welcome to join and bring a dish of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Windham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham.
