William A. Brown, 80
WINDHAM & ORRINGTON -- With family by his side, William A. Brown, 80, passed away March 30, 2013 at his nieces home after a long illness. He was born March 13, 1933 in Milo, the son of Clinton and Doris Brown.
He graduated from Milo high School, served a tour of duty in the Army, graduated from Bowdoin College and was a professor of mathematics a the University of Maine, Portland for over 35 years. He enjoyed many years at his camp at Ebeemee Pond with his dog Fritz. He had a special love for all animals and took care of many feral cats over the years. He also enjoyed feeding the wild turkeys around his home. He had a great sense of humor and loved trying to 'cheat' at cribbage. In his younger years her played a mean game of ping pong and could hold his own with a cue stick. He quietly gave to many charities and also gave generously to the alumni fund of Bowdoin College.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Nelson Brown, Lawrence Brown and sister, Verna Coakley. He is survived by a sister, Carolyn Kelly of Milo, sister-in-law, Else Brown of Windham; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral services. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Milo. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. Condolences may be offered to his family at
