BREWER -- The daughters of Vivian Marie Langlois wish to announce her passing on Jan. 12, 2013, in Brewer.
Vivian, 87, was preceded in death by her parents, Alcide and Edwina Lavoie of Brunswick; her husband, A. Edward Langlois Jr. of South Portland; and her granddaughter, Jodie Lane who was pursuing a doctorate at Columbia University in New York City.
Mrs. Langlois attended South Portland schools and was an accomplished trumpet player in high school.
Mrs. Langlois and her husband resided in Castine during the first years of their marriage where Ed was an instructor and placement director at Maine Maritime Academy. They moved to the Meeting House Hill area of South Portland in 1956 when Ed was appointed General Manager of the Maine Port Authority.
Vivian and Ed returned often to Castine to attend the academy's alumni functions and to visit with old friends in town.
Vivian enjoyed listening to the Boston Red Sox and Celtics on the radio and kept up with her favorite players. She was proud of her French heritage, enjoyed flowers and relaxing at the family summer residence on Little Sebago Lake.
She is survived by her four daughters, Therese Marie Levandoski of Richmond, Va., Karen Lane of South Portland, Marie Langlois and her husband Paul Frederick of Lamoine, Denise Langlois O'Kane and her husband Jim of Leesburg, Va.; her sister-in-law, Ann Levesque and husband Bill of Rochester, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held by family members .
