Vilma Colson Clemons, 89

BROWNFIELD - Vilma Colson Clemons, 89, of Brownfield, died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 17, 2018.

Vilma was born on Feb. 29, 1928, in Camden, to the late Inez F. Hall Colson and Ralph S. Colson.

In 1958, she married Harold F. Clemons Jr. and had 45 wonderful years together before his death in 2003. They enjoyed traveling throughout Maine and spent the winters in Florida, where she met many wonderful people who became good friends.

Her passions were her family, friends, church, cards, crafts, knitting and cooking, and she played cards every week with her friends. Vilma spent many years in her local extension group. Some of her volunteer work included knitting hats for preemies, mittens for the needy and lap blankets for veterans.

She was always involved in church activities and was a member of the North Fryeburg Community Chapel.

Vilma is survived by her children, Scott Clemons and his wife, Kimberly, of Brownfield; James Clemons and his wife, Ann, of Yarmouth; Ralph Clemons and his wife, Elizabeth, of Falmouth and North Port, Fla.; and Karen Cote of Hiram; her five grandchildren, Jennifer Clemons, Christopher Clemons, Emily Deerwester, Stuart Clemons, and John Baxter Clemons and Eleda Towle; and many nieces and nephews.

Her beloved dog, Missy, was a comfort and a companion.

She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Allen, whom she loved very much.

A Celebration of Life will be planned in the late spring; date to be decided.
