SOUTH PORTLAND -- Thomas Joseph Concannon, 77, of South Portland, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, after a lengthy battle with lung disease.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1935, in Portland, the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary (Connolly) Concannon. He was a member of the Cheverus High School, Class of 1954 and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1958.
Tom was known and loved by many for his kind heart and good nature, first as a teacher at Bonny Eagle High School and then for many years at Cape Elizabeth High School, and also as a Realtor¨, most recently at Coldwell Banker in Cape Elizabeth.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (McMahon) Concannon; children, Meagan Concannon and partner Marianne Neal of Pittsburgh, Pa., Meredith (Concannon) Lang and husband Peter of Austin, Texas, and Matthew Concannon and wife Cullen of Cape Elizabeth; and grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Joseph, and Madeline Lang and Evan and Kathryn Concannon. Also surviving are his sister, Peggy (Concannon) Cote and husband David; and nephews, Christopher and Mark Cote.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tom's life at a period of visitation on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, from 4-7 p.m., followed by a brief memorial service at 7 p.m., at A.T.
