The Rev. Samuel Rocco DiTrolio Sr., 83 PORTLAND -- The Rev. Samuel Rocco DiTrolio Sr., 83, of Portland, passed away on Dec. 21, 2012. The son of Vito Rocco DiTrolio and Angiolina (Salsati) DiTrolio, he was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 2, 1929. After graduation from Girard College, he served the U.S. Army as a Medical Corpsman in the Korean War. After discharge from the Army he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree from Valley Forge Christian College (formally E.B.I.). He married Rachel Giordano on June 10, 1951. He pastored churches in Stamford, Conn., and Brattleboro, Vt., before becoming the Superintendent of Northern New England District of the Assemblies of God in 1971, a position he held for 28 years. Following retirement he continued to serve the NNED A/G as Superintendent Emeritus. He had a passion for missions and church planting. He is survived by his wife, Rachel DiTrolio, of 61 years; his son, Samuel R. DiTrolio Jr. and Roxanne of S. Attleboro, Mass., his son, David R. DiTrolio and his wife Rosemarie, missionaries serving in Paraguay, South America, his son, Rocco S. DiTrolio and his wife Ellen, missionaries serving in Argentina, South America, and his daughter, Angela DiTrolio Hazel of Scarborough. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew, Susannah, Rachel, Rebecca, Michael, Samuel III, Stephen, Christopher, Heather and Hannah; and his sister, Rebecca Petrone of Media, Pa. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A brief time of visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, from 9-9:45 a.m., at Emmanuel Assembly of God, 1571 Washington Ave., Portland. A funeral service will follow at the church at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be held on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland.
